Make
the Most of the Day
I also have a strategy for getting the most value from my workshop.
I don’t want to breeze in, speak for 45 minutes, and rush
off to catch my next flight. It might be easier, but I am also interested
in cementing relationships. I recommend presenting multiple workshops
to smaller groups of clients or prospective clients. Making the
same presentation a number of times to a smaller group, particularly
with the financial advisor present, will generate significantly
more business than one large workshop. Also, by offering multiple
workshops, you are likely to capture a larger audience. Fortunately,
you can stagger the workshops over an entire day.
I
charge one rate for the entire day no matter how many sessions you
schedule. I suggest you plan to get the biggest bang for your buck.
The reason the multiple session strategy isn’t used more is
because most keynote speakers want additional compensation for additional
sessions. My reasoning is: if I provide you with exceptional value,
value that exceeds my fee, you may have me back or refer me to your
friends. I encourage you to use proven strategies that are cost
effective.
Workshop
sponsors in Omaha, Nebraska followed my suggestions. Over two days,
we scheduled two workshops for end clients as well as two sessions
for the advisors. The sponsors also addressed the end clients. Of
the two presentations to the Merrill Lynch advisors, one was technical
and the other focused on business and sales techniques.

the time between the workshops, I made myself available to advisors

My workshops focus on optimizing retirement plan distribution strategies
from a tax, retirement and estate planning perspective. I offer
an informative workshop that provides answers to some of the perplexing
questions about retirement and estate planning including minimum
required distributions and beneficiary designations. People not
only give me the highest evaluation marks, many go out of their
way to tell me how helpful my talk was and how much they appreciated
the information.
My workshops offer concrete suggestions and peer reviewed analysis.
My “plug” is encouraging clients to set up appointments
with the asset management firm to implement the action points described
in my talk. I have developed a number of means to get appointments

and estate planning. As an attorney, I have executed roughly 1,000
